Barriere hosts fall fair, BCRA Polaris Championship Finals Rodeo

The ‘best of the best’ will be at the rodeo and fair in Barriere on Labour Day

The North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo is one of the leading regional events within the Thompson Nicola Regional District and this year is celebrating the 74th anniversary of the fair.

The mission statement of the organization is: To encourage, develop and promote the advancement of agriculture and farm living in the North Thompson Valley, with special reference to the fostering of livestock, crops, orchard crops, poultry husbandry, industrial, commercial, educational, mechanical and household arts, and rural and urban young peoples organizations, 4-H competitions, livestock competitions, fine arts, sewing and baking, gardening, bee keeping, and volunteerism at its finest.

The NTFFRA functions with a volunteer Board of Directors along with an additional 100-150 dedicated community volunteers Facility enhancements and upgrades are in almost all instances completed by volunteers.

This year the North Thompson Fall Fair (NTFF) & Rodeo Association’s theme for 2023 is “Bee at the Fair” Once again the NTFF will be hosting the BC Rodeo Association Polaris Championship Finals Rodeo with this Labour Day Weekend Fall Fair event. The’ best of the best’ will be competing in Barriere, B.C., for the honour of being named Provincial Rodeo Champions!

The mandatory BCRA contestant meeting will be held on Saturday September 2, at 11 a.m. sharp. All contestants are required to be present for the grand entry and contestants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the 1:30 performance start time at the timed event end of the arena.

The dream that was started 74 years ago lives on today, because of unending community spirit and the hard-working dedicated volunteers who continue to make it all happen.
