Double R Canadians and Elk River Canadians held an Open Barn event in honour of Canada Day last Saturday as they raise the country’s national horse, the Canadian.

Owners of the facility and its horses, Susan and Richard Arthur, report they are saying “thank you” to the several dozen people who attended their Open Barn July 1.

“Max and Koko enjoyed showing off in the riding arena with their riders, Jen Power and Monica Kunze,” says Susan. “Richard and Gamine enjoyed taking everyone for cart rides on our shady trails, and the foals, Emily and Echo, as usual loved showing off their new running and jumping skills.”

Arthur says the couple were pleased to have such a nice turnout when there were so many other Canada Day activities available to people.

The Arthurs are asking that if by chance someone took any photos while at the Open Barn they would be very happy if you could share some with them by emailing to: susanarthur@xplornet.ca.

“We enjoyed talking with everyone throughout the day and somehow forgot to take any photographs of our own,” said Susan, “Thank you in advance, and we’re hoping that we’ll see everyone again next year.”
