Hot town, summer in the city, back of my neck gettin’ dirty and gritty, been down, isn’t it a pity? Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city. By now you should be humming/singing that Lovin’ Spoonful classic.

That song has been running through my head for the last few days. Tuesday night was hot….I mean HOT and humid. Golf partner Donna Salle seemed concerned about my welfare so I am thinking I must have looked a lot worse than I felt. A total of 31 ladies decided to put up with the heat.

Kelly McNabney continued her winning ways with a score of 41 to win low gross in Flight 1. Louise Lodge scored a 43 (35.5) to win low net. Cathy Paul won the low gross honours in Flight 2 with a 50 while Laurie Hawley won low net with a 55 (37.5). In Flight 3 Evelyn Lucas was the low gross winner with a 51 and Kate Schilling was low net with a 55 (35). Low gross in Flight 4 went to Emma Schilling with a 54 and Jennifer Johnson was second low gross with a 57. Now without looking can you name the Gross/Net sponsors. That’s correct. They are Sundown Construction, Quality Contractors, Steve Passmore of Sun Life Financial and Kelly McNabney of TriPeaks Physio. Tanya Desjarlais won the Chip In pot for Flight 1 and Evelyn Lucas won the Birdie pot for Flight 3.

Long Drive winner were Evelyn Lucas (Barriere Timber Mart), Jennifer Johnson (Blue Moon Galeria), Karina Scott (Thompson Valley Awards) and Kelly McNabney (AG Foods).Accuracy prize from Just U went to Desi Newby. KP means Closest to the Pin. I don’t understand the K part but the golf people didn’t ask my opinion when making the name decision. The important thing to remember is that to be KP the ball must land on the green. KP prize winners this week were Louise Lodge (Cindy Leibel Real Estate), Evelyn Lucas (Salle Ranch), Lynda Dunlop (Stamer Logging) and Kelly McNabney (Barb and Carman Smith). KP in 2 (yup - closest to the pin in two shots) winners were Desi Newby (EBL Ventures), Carol Hindle (Station House Restaurant) and Emma Schilling (The Local of Louis Creek Artisan Market). KP is 3 (yes, three shots) went to Tanya Desjarlais (Barriere IDA). The Long Putt prizes were won by Tanya Desjarlais (HUB International/Chad Belbin and Sam’s Pizza), Desi Newby (Rainer Custom Cutting), and Kate Schilling (Armour Mountain Bookkeeping). Cathy Paul won the Least Putt prize by retro with 13 putts and Desi Newby won Most Putt prize by retro with 25 putts. The rest of us fell somewhere in between and won nothing. Prizes from MJB Lawyers, Barriere Motor Inn, the Carls (Brian and Brenda) and Campbell & Co. were not claimed so went in to the door prize draw.

We finished the evening off with birthday cake. Jeannie Webber celebrated her 75th and Kelly McNabney celebrated without telling me what year it was. Hope you both had excellent birthdays.

Next week is our August Fun Night and following that we have only three more Ladies’ Nights left. The season has certainly gone by quickly. Hope to see you at the course soon.
