Nominations are now open for the 2024 “Best of the Valley” contest and the Barriere Star/Journal and Clearwater Times team will be encouraging readers in the valley to nominate the businesses that are their favourites for consideration.

The Best of the Valley is co-sponsored by the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association and there will be two winners for weekend passes to the 2024 North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo drawn randomly from all the participants.

Black Press publisher for the Cariboo-Thompson region Martina Dopf said, “I’m excited about this contest in the valley and looking forward to celebrating the businesses in the North Thompson Valley. This is a way to recognize businesses for their high-quality customer service, great products and acknowledge them through nominating them.”

There are 80 categories to choose from and the nomination period will end on April 14. The voting period will follow from April 17 to May 12.

Community members are welcome to nominate multiple businesses across the 80 categories. For example, this could include Best Restaurant, Best New Business, Best Community Group, Best Accommodation, to name a few. You can vote for your favourite business every day while the contest runs and voters can visit our contest at: www.barrierestarjournal.com/contests to enter.

The Barriere Star/Journal and Clearwater Times will announce the winners in each category in their May 30 editions.

Winning businesses will receive bragging rights as Voted #1 Business in their respective category, a sticker to display at their place of business window as well as the graphic that identifies them as winner of the “Best of the Valley” contest to use in their advertising.

Be sure to get your nominations in before the voting period and then come back to vote for your favourite businesses from April 17 to May 12.

Any business from McLure to Blue River is eligible to nominate. Get your votes in to show your appreciation for your chosen businesses.
