Shopper thanks Barriere Farmer’s Market merchants for “generosity”

To the editor;

Last Thursday, Oct. 26, at 1:50 p.m. I received a surprise call from the Barriere Farmers Market. I was the recipient of a draw to win a gift basket. Names had been collected for several weeks, as patrons shopped at each vendor, and one person at the end of the market season would be randomly selected.

When I eagerly went back down to the Market at closing time, to accept this gift, I was overwhelmed at the generosity of all the participating vendors. The basket was overflowing with the wonderful products offered for sale on a weekly basis throughout the duration of the market season.

I am so grateful for each and every vendor who put their heart, soul, passion, efforts, labour and love into providing goods that enrich my life. Having participated as a vendor in another Interior Farmers Market setting in the past, I know firsthand how dedicated and hard each vendor works to participate at a weekly Farmers Market. Their production costs, time and efforts are rarely reflected in the prices we pay. I thank all of you for giving me the option to shop locally. I thank all of you for your generous gifting.
