The Thompson Nicola Area Girl Guides are working hard to fundraise for a trip to Europe in July of 2026. On April 20 in Barriere they raised a whopping $975 to put towards their goal.

There are four girls and one leader from Barriere, four girls and two leaders from Kamloops, and another girl from Merritt signed up for the trip.

With over 100 years of history, Girl Guides of Canada are known for their determination, hard work, and service.

Lindsay Arcand, Barriere Pathfinder leader says,”Today’s Girl Guides learn about cultural awareness, educated career choices, technology, arts and the environment while developing the skills needed to speak out proactively on current issues impacting them as they grow. We encourage them in gaining the skills they need to speak out on issues important to them.”

The local guides have also been selling Girl Guide cookies and are planning more fundraising efforts in the future said Arcand, adding,”We are so proud of these girls working hard on Saturday during the most recent bottle drive fundraiser. We all appreciate the community support in our areas to help them make this trip a reality.”

If you would like to order cookies from the local Thompson Nicola Area Girl Guides you can contact them locally in Barriere through leaders Lindsay Arcand or Jen Crosman.
