The BC Cowboy Heritage Society is thrilled to announce that the legendary band The Sons of the Pioneers is coming to B.C. this month.

For over 80 years the Sons of the Pioneers have been recognized as “the world’s premier cowboy singing group” (noted by American Cowboy magazine) starting with Roy Rogers, in the 1934, in numerous movies, through major recording contracts and television shows and thousands of live performances all around the world.

They have been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Western Music Hall of Fame, the Texas Swing Hall of Fame and have their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Their renditions of Tumbling Tumbleweed and Cool Water are in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Today the Sons of the Pioneers are still being recognized as the best in the genre. Last December, True West magazine named them 2016 “Best of the West - Best Western Music Group”.

Their now famous song, Cool Water, was written by one of the three founders of the Sons of the Pioneers - Bob Nolan, a Canadian born in Winnipeg, Canada. Many artists have recorded this song in the last 80 years … Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins to name a couple, however, it originated with the Sons of the Pioneers.

As well as cowboy heritage, Western Music is an art form. It is a unique and truly original North American art form which honours the cowboy, the timeless West, and its culture. The North American Cowboy and the American and Canadian West are images embraced by a large demographic - for as the song says, “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys”.

The Sons of the Pioneers will perform in Abbotsford / Chilliwack, Kelowna, Oliver, Nelson, Vernon, and Kamloops. Ticket information is available on the BC Cowboy Heritage Society web site – www.bcchs.com.
