The annual North Thompson Fish and Game Club Society banquet for 2024 was held on March 16 at the Barriere Seniors centre and was deemed a “great success” by club treasurer, Kathy Campbell. Campbell said, “Everyone had a great evening and we are looking forward to an even bigger and better banquet next year. Our chefs, brothers Bob and Garry Sorensen made a delicious feast for us serving up deer, moose, salmon, wild boar, cougar and for those that don’t enjoy wild game some beef as well.”

According to Campbell there was a wide array of silent auction items to choose from and “people walked away with some really good deals” while being entertained by the music provided by local D.J. Bryan Smith.

The North Thompson Fish and Game Club Society’s mission statement is to encourage young people to become involved in hunting and fishing and to teach them the values of the outdoors, hoping they will continue to protect fish, game and become guardians of nature in the future.

The directors’ meeting will be held on Monday April 8 starting at 7 p.m. at the Barriere Seniors’ Centre

The next general membership meeting will be held on April 22 starting at 7 p.m. at the Barriere Seniors’ Centre

There will be a F-class peacock shoot on April 27-28 at the North Thompson Fish and Game Club Society, Gorman Lake Forest Service Road in Darfield, B.C.

Members of the North Thompson Fish and Game Club meet on the 4th Thursday of the month (except for July, August, and December). Check the calendar for updates and information. The annual fee for individual members is only $90 or $100 for the whole family. If you would like to be a shooting member of the gun range, you have to go through orientation and pay an additional $10 a year for key rental.
