A Barriere family have lost their home to a house fire a-week-ago Wednesday.

Fire Chief Kent Reedman says the Barriere Fire Department were on scene at the Westsyde Road property just before midnight on March 14.

“It had a pretty good head start on us when we got to the scene,” said Reedman, who noted the house was fully engulfed at that time.

Reedman reports the department turned out with five units and 14 firefighters to help knock down the blaze and prevent the spread of the fire to trees and other structures in the immediate area.

Thankfully no one was in the home at the time, but the structure was totally destroyed by the blaze.

It was reported the homeowners were not in the home at the time but in an adjacent building on the property. All pets were also reported accounted for.

The Fire Chief says cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, noting, “The blaze was not suspicious at all”.
