The District of Barriere is on the watch for vandals who have been causing mischief at the Fadear Park and Bandshell.

Barriere Chief Administrator Officer Bob Payette said police have created a case file and investigating the series of attempted break-ins, damages and graffiti in several buildings last week. Other mischief includes wrapping a light standard with a roll of doggie bags.

“They’re causing and wreaking havoc,” Payette said.

The situation is not only causing a toll in damages but putting a strain on district employees, who are having to clean up and monitor the park. Police have also added extra patrols at night, Payette said.

“When they are caught they will be charged to the fullest extent of the law possible and required to cover the costs of the damage,” he said. “These events will not be tolerated in Barriere, those responsible need to understand the damage this causes to the public spaces.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Barriere RCMP at (250) 672-9918.
