The emergency room at the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will be closed for multiple days, according to a statement from Interior Health released at 4:36 p.m.

The ER will be closed from 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 to 7 a.m. Friday, July 29.

This is the third closure spanning over a few days since July 1, including a diversion that spanned 49 hours from July 10 to 12 and another from July 16 to 18 spanning 37 hours.

The health authority says the closure is “due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.”

Clearwater and area residents are encouraged to call 911 in the event of an emergency and ambulances will be routed straight to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during closure hours. Those seeking medical attention can also visit Royal Inland Hospital, or call HealthLink BC at 811 if unsure of their medical care needs.
