Thompson-Nicola Regional District The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) bases Evacuation Orders on the recommendations of BC Wildfire and these orders are placed for the safety of our residents. Leaving during an Evacuation Order is the best course of action for your personal safety. Leaving when ordered also allows BC Wildfire to operate in the most effective way possible.
For these reasons, the TNRD strongly recommends that residents evacuate when ordered to do so.
For those who elect to stay in an area that is under Evacuation Order, staying comes with the requirement that you remain on your own property at all times. Moving outside of your property can interfere with fire operations and negatively impact the firefighting efforts. If you leave your property, the RCMP will issue a warning. If you leave your property after receiving a warning, the RCMP will escort you from the Evacuation Order zone.
The TNRD recognizes that some residents choose to remain during an evacuation order, but doing so comes with a degree of risk. Residents must be aware of changing conditions and that the danger may increase at any time. If you feel at risk, please self-evacuate to remove yourself from potential harm.

The TNRD provides over 120 services including planning and building inspection, solid waste management, emergency preparedness and 9-1-1 services, recreation, utilities, television river buoys, transit, tourism, library services and operates a film commission.
