Heather “Joan” Mattey (Haner), 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 18, 2017, with her faithful companion, Annie, by her side and surrounded by family. She was preceded by her parents Daniel and Rosella (Sue) Mattey and survived by her children Kyle (Cheryl) Haner and their children Brookelynn and Andrea; Tannis (Yogi) Stuckless; and Sheanna (Bill) Rhodes and their children Robert and Matthew.

A loving and devoted mother, she will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren and all those who knew her.

She grew up in a pioneering family from Chase, B.C., and learned how to work hard early in life. Joan was the second eldest, and is also survived by all her siblings - three sisters (Gail [Barry], Terry [Marc] and Janet [Lance]) and brother (Dan [Dixie]).

She was many things in her life – a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, gramma, hairdresser, nurse’s assistant, camp cook, caregiver for the elderly, life coach, reiki practitioner, and even a gold miner.

She married (Bill Haner), had children, separated but never stopped working hard until her body could no longer. She was a very energetic, intelligent, generous, honest and positive woman that touched the lives of everyone she met.

Her warm light will live bright in the hearts of all the people she touched and loved.

She is once again in the arms of her parents and will be received by the loved ones who passed before her. May God bless her kind soul and give her eternal peace.

A service will be held to honour her life at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 25, at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, 7386 Horne Street, Mission, B.C., V2V 3Y7; 604-826-9548.
