Fish and Game Club to host Father’s Day Fish Derby on June 19

The North Thompson Fish and Game Club held a meeting on May 16 at the Volunteer Centre at the Ridge.

A committee was formed to set up a temporary practice shooting range in the area.

There will be a fence panel ad put up at Angler’s Gift and Tackle shop in Barriere for the Fish and Game club that will also contain a coming events calendar.

The club is in the process of creating a web-site, which will be used to keep everyone informed about the club, it’s membership, and it’s events.

It was reported that the May 15, 3rd Annual BBQ and Competition Clay Pigeon Shoot was well attended.  Everyone agreed the barbecue “was awesome”, and thanks was given to Bob Sorenson for preparing the meal.

The next Club event will be the 2nd Annual Father’s Day Fishing Derby on June 19.  It was noted that Father’s day is a Free Fishing Day in B.C.  On this day no one needs a Fishing License.  Participants can sign-in at Angler’s Gift and Tackle shop; any type of game fish, any lake in the area. There will be Hidden Weight Prizes, leaving the main prize for just about anyone that enrolls in the event.  The Club’s chuckwagon will be set up on sight for hungry angler’s and friends.

Cost of entry is $5 per adult, kids under 16-years-old are free. The final weigh-in will be at 4 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to participate and enjoy the fun.
