This week the news was some good, some bad and some sad.

The bad news was that I missed the last Ladies’ Night of the season. The good news was I missed it because hubby Bob was finally released from the hospital and came home. The sad news was that the dinner special for the evening was Chinese food and next to turkey, my favourite meal is Chinese food. I hear from those who did partake that it was absolutely delicious.

Although I was away, Debby Rainer held down the fort magnificently with the assistance of Donna Salle and others. I wasn’t there so don’t know all the names but THANK YOU. The weather looked like it was going to be really lousy and it turned out to be very nice. Thirty-six ladies took in the last Ladies’ Night. It is hard to believe how quickly the summer has slipped by. As always a huge thank you to all our sponsors for making the season another successful one.

Our sponsors are AG Foods, Alpine Meadows Resort, Armour Mountain Office, Barb and Carman Smith, Barriere Auto Parts, Barriere Motor Inn, Barriere Timber Mart, Bob Stirling, Brenda and Brian Carl, Campbell & Company, Chinook Cove Golf, EBL Ventures, MJB Lawyers, Munro’s Clothing/IDA, North Thompson Funeral Services, North Thompson Star/Journal, Quality Contractors, Rainer Custom Cutting, Royal LePage/Westwin Realty/Cindy Leibel, Salle Ranch, Sam’s Pizza, Stamer Logging, Station House Restaurant, Sun Life Financial/Ainsley Gullage, T & T Liquidation, and Thompson Valley Awards.

Low gross winners were Kelly McNabney, Leanne Abrey, Mary VanSickle, Donna Fraser and Barb Smith. Low net winners were Theresa Young, Babes Shanko and Jess Thompson. Pot winners were Theresa Young, Kelly McNabney, Susan Newberry and Leanne Abrey. The remaining pots were shared among the folks in the appropriate flights. Only the Eagle and Hole-in-One pots are carried forward to next year.

The pin winners were Louise Lodge, Doreen Landry, Val Williams, Wanda Amos, Evelyn Lucas, Donna Salle, Babes Shanko, Theresa Young, Sandra Tully, Trish Thompson, Jessica Thompson, Dorothy Warman, Deb Winiski, Susan Newberry and Barb Smith. Congratulations to all.

So that is it for 2021. Thank you to the Star Journal for printing this gobbledygook every week and thank you to those of you who read it. My final thank you goes to my golfing partners, Deb Rainer, Donna Salle and Lois McInnis. They put up with a lot from me and they make golfing a lot of fun. I am hoping to improve my game next year.

To paraphrase Scarlett O’Hara “I will think about it tomorrow. After all next year is a new season.” See you at the course.
