As of January 8, 2015, another 4-H year has started for the members of the Yellowhead 4-H Club.

At our start of the year meeting we voted on our new executive committee. Our club executive committee now consists of Christine Kempter as our president, Spencer Pawloff as our vice-president, Grace Kempter as our seceretary and Sami Williams as our treasurer.

Our club has also undergone some other changes this year. Dennis Farquarson has stepped down from the position of photography leader, and he is being replaced by Brent Hamblin.

In addition, Yellowhead 4-H now has a goat section. Sharon Threatful has agreed to fill the position as the goat leader.

4-Hers are currently working on their speeches and demonstrations, and on January 26 the speech workshop was held in the Barriere Legion basement.

Members learned how to write a hook, body and a conclusion for their speeches. They also worked on presenting their speeches.

Then after a chilli lunch, seniors arrived and everyone worked on impromptu speeches. Over twenty 4-Hers attended and everyone who attended had a great time.

Our speech day will be held on February 22 at the Barriere Lions hall.

At this time we would like to thank the Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society for their generous donation to help with the costs of building a shed to house our new beef weigh scale.

We would also like to thank the Thompson Nicola Regional District for their generous donation in July to help purchase the weigh scale. We have plans to start construction soon.
