Though the norm is a call for volunteers, Interior Savings is turning the tables and looking for volunteer opportunities for 500 employees.

Last year in Barriere, Interior Savings participated in volunteer opportunities for their team at the Barriere Curling Club and the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo facility.  This year the team is once again in search of another community project; with approximately 10-12 employees in Barriere who will be participating.

This all happens on Oct. 20, on International Credit Union Day, when Interior Savings will once again celebrate its annual Day of Difference, a day to recognize its cooperative values and celebrate those who are making a difference in their community.

On this day, Interior Savings’ credit union and insurance branches will close early and 500 employees will fan out across 14 communities, from Osoyoos to Clearwater, to assist organizations who are helping build healthy and vibrant communities.

“As a locally-based cooperative, our success is tied to the success of our communities,” said Kathy Conway, Interior Savings CEO. “Day of Difference is our way of saying thanks to the non-profits and volunteers who give their time and their hearts to help build brighter futures, right here at home.”

Interior Savings is looking for organizations in need of volunteers from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 20. They’re willing to do most-anything: yard work, painting, envelope-stuffing, meal prep, or general chores. Just ask!

Interested organizations are asked to email cjohnson@interiorsavings.com by Sept. 16, and include details on what the project is and how many volunteers are needed.

Though Interior Savings may not be able to accommodate all the requests received, all organizations will be informed by Sept. 30, 2016.

Interior Savings is a member-owned, democratically-controlled credit union dedicated to creating local money while helping to build vibrant communities. Through its 21 branches, 16 insurance offices, Member Service Centre, and two Commercial Services Centres, the Credit Union offers personal and commercial banking and a full range of insurance and wealth management services to more than 70,000 members across 14 communities. Since 2002, Interior Savings has returned $53.8 million to members through its Member Rewards Program and invested nearly $8 million in support of community programs.
