The Thompson Valley Players (TVP) are pleased to announce they will be hosting the TVP Youth five day workshop ‘Acting Up’ from July 25-29 from 9:30 a.m. to 2p.m. in the gymnasium at the Barriere Ridge.

“Once again, the workshop will be sponsored by Barriere and Area Learning and Literacy through Yellowhead Community Services,” said workshop facilitator Beverly Murphy. “The workshop is for youth nine to14 years of age and only 20 spots are available.”

There will be no charge for the course, but Murphy says students must register to participate, and participants will also be responsible to bring their own lunch.

“The course will offer an introduction to Improv, public speaking tips, creating a monolog, and theatre games,” said Murphy, “A performance is also held at the end of the course to showcase the participant’s accomplishments. This a great opportunity for any young person to enhance their acting abilities and experience performing in front of an audience.”

To register for Thompson Valley Players ‘Acting Up’, or to obtain more information, please contact Beverly Murphy at 250-819-5684.

Workshop sponsor, Barriere and Area Literacy and Learning raise funds every year during the annual areas Raise a Reader event to help pay for programs such as this TVP five day workshop for youth and Summer Twoonie Day Camps for kids.
