After a two year hiatus due to COVID, Canada Day celebrations were once again held in Barriere on July 1, 2022, at the Fadear Park Bandshell. Many local residents and families turned out for the event, including a large number of young children who especially enjoyed the free flags, games, and special cupcakes.

Dignitaries attending the event included Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP FrankCaputo, Kamloops North Thompson MLA Peter Milobar, Thompson Nicola Regional District Area ‘O’ Director Bill Kershaw, District of Barriere Mayor Ward Stamer, Barriere councilors Judy Armstrong, Donna Kibble, Amanda Sabyan and Al Fortin.

After the ceremonies folks chatted and visited, while Mayor Stamer and helpers cooked up free hot dogs on a barbecue for a long line of hungry attendees.
