Barriere Elementary hands out year end awards

Barriere Elementary School handed out their 2019/2020 Year End Awards on June 24. The awards were presented practicing good social distancing as the students each entered the library one at a time for their award presentation and photograph.

Barriere Elementary School handed out their 2019/2020 Year End Awards on June 24. The awards were presented practicing good social distancing as the students each entered the library one at a time for their award presentation and photograph.

Here are the recipients:

• The Harry Leavitt Memorial - Fine Arts (Any student who displays a keen interest and aptitude in the area of music): Missy Kjellstrom.

• Top Academic (Gr. 6): Missy Kjellstrom and Dayna Underhill

• Grade 6 Music Recognition (Keen interest and aptitude playing an instrument) Receives a GC from Long and McQuade: Dayna Underhill

• Darren Brady Memorial (Criteria: A person like Darren- is concerned with underprivileged children, friendly to all, shows improvement socially and academically and exhibits a positive self-image): Reine McGravey

• Nancy Loadman Memorial (A Gr. 4 student who is caring for others, has a love of nature/environment and has a desire to be their very best, no matter what the challenge): Gavin Van Sickle

• Herpaul Sandhanwalia Memorial (A Gr. 5 student like Herpaul - who is an excellent student, a good athlete and a well-rounded person who is loved by all): Grace Farrow and Tessa Salle

• Beccy Davy Memorial Award Criteria: (Any student who has displayed exemplary citizenship during the year with an emphasis in supporting the library through involvement and voluntary work. Selection by librarian): Josie Crosman

• Bonnie Cruzelle-Myram Memorial (Helpful in the library and a love for literature): Claire Arcand and Georgia Fitzpatrick-Fischer

• North Thompson Fall Fair Community Service (Student or family that has volunteered time and effort for the betterment of the Barriere Community): Oja-Ames Family

• Top Service: Drydyn Oja-Ames

• Grade 3 Athletic: Kesler Allen, Hunter Atwater, and Eva-Mae Ekins

• Grade 4 Athletic: Kayden Conan, Macklin Pullen, and Avary Harris

• Grade 5 Athletic: Tyson Matthews and Bianca Genaille

• Grade 6 Athletic: Cayden Johnson and Destiny Paul

• Top Sportsmanship: Cayden Johnson

• Grade 3 Fine Arts: Declan Gibson and Lexi Janzen

• Grade 4 Fine Arts: Lee Fraser and Avary Harris

• Grade 5 Fine Arts : Josie Crosman and Lucas Marton

• Grade 6 Fine Arts: Desmon Oertel and Taalishia Dobson
