The whole family, plus your pets are invited to join in the fun of the Family Parade in Barriere on Monday, Sept. 5.

Grab your best pal — two-legged or four-legged, dress up to make a statement, and head on down to march your way to a prize. But even without a prize, it’ll be the most fun you can have on a holiday Monday.

This costumed walking parade gives all ages a chance to show your friends and neighbours just how zany you can be. No excuses. This parade is for anyone and everyone who enjoys a good time.

Decorate your wheelbarrow, dress up as Dr. Dig’em Dirt and join the parade. Put your child in a wagon, rig up a flag and you have a float in the parade. Put grandma with her best hat onto her moto-scooter, and hey, presto, she can join the parade. Little Suzy can ride her tricycle. Little Johnny can ride his bike. Dig out your roller blades and join the parade. Put your dad and your goat in matching costumes and send them along as well.

However, live animals are not required - so you can ride a stick horse. You can even come as yourself, just bring along a spirit of fun and joy in your community.

Registration for parade entries will be taking place at the Barriere Secondary School (BSS) parking lot at 9 a.m. Everyone who shows up gets into the parade. No fee. No restrictions.

However, this is a family fun parade, so decorum is expected.

Judging of entrants starts at 10 a.m., so don’t be late!

The parade will then move out from BSS at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The parade route will move from BSS up Barriere Lakes Road to the North Thompson Fall Fair grounds, and will end inside the centre of the grounds at the entertainment stage where special ribbons and prize money will be awarded. There will be five $25 cash prizes, plus special rosette ribbons for the five ‘Best of the Best’.

Fall Fair Family Parade categories include:

• Decorated tricycle

• Decorated bicycle

• On-foot paraders: pair, group, individual
