Fire Chief Kent Readman, reported to the District of Barriere council meeting last Monday a summary of calls that occurred in June 2018 as well as other fire related items for information.

There were 10 Emergency calls in June 2018.

• June 9/2018 – Vehicle Fire

• June 13/2018 – Automatic Fire Alarm

• June 14/2018 – Illegal Burn

• June 15/2018 – Illegal Burn

• June 20/2018 – Propane Leak

• June 21/2018 – Motor Vehicle Incident

• June 23/2018 – Illegal Burn

• June 25/2018 – Motor Vehicle Incident

• June 26/2018 – Carbon Monoxide Alarm

•June 26/2018 – Public Assist There were four Training sessions in June 2018.

• June 7/2018 – Meeting and trucks/equipment checks and maintenance

• June 14/2018 – Personal Protective Equipment Inspections and Maintenance (New PPE)

• June 21/2018 – Hose Testing

• June 28/2018 – Building Construction There was three Fire Safety Maintenance Inspection/Investigations in June 2018.

There was four Public Education Events in June 2018.

• June 2/2018 – Community Wildfire Preparedness Day and Open House at the Barriere Fire Hall

• June 9/2018 – Members brought two apparatus and set up a display at The Big Barriere Block Party

• June 22/2018 – Member brought Engine 3 to the High School for their Presentation Day and Soap Box Races.

• June 25/2018 – Members brought Engine 1 to the Elementary School for their Fun Day.

Chief Readman attended the Fire Chiefs Association of BC convention and educational summit in Victoria, June 3-7,2018. He commented that it was “a great opportunity to meet with suppliers, truck manufacturers, and colleagues from across Canada”.Over the five days the Fire Chief attended eight meetings, 13 educational seminars and the trade show.

Members completed their annual hearing tests on June 14.

Two Captains attended the BC Playbook Team Leader course in Blackpool on June 16 and 17.

On June 28 Chief Readman met with members from Blackpool Fire, Clearwater Fire, and BC Wildfire at the Ministry of Forests Office in Clearwater.
