Barriere Lion’s Club working with Parks Committee

Gazebo to be built to house exercise equipment for the public

The District of Barriere Parks Committee meeting on June 5, started off with a delegation from the Barriere Lions Club.  Barry Pick and Ward Stamer spoke on behalf of the Lions Club, regarding the gazebo they are building in Fadear Park next to the playground.  They were wanting details on which of the exercise equipment would be placed in the Gazebo, as it will determine how much concrete they will need to pour.

Staff reported that the exercise equipment will be arriving in approximately six to eight weeks.

The rosebushes from the triangle have been transplanted to behind the Bandshell, and appear to have all survived the move.  The “Welcome to Barriere” sign is currently being made and should arrive in the next week or two.

There was some discussion regarding how many times the ball diamonds need to be dragged - with the resulting decision being - twice a week.

The next Communities in Bloom meeting will be on June 14, 3 p.m. at the District Office.  Councillor Smith reported that planters have been installed at Fadear Park, thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help with this project.

The next Parks Committee meeting will be at the call of the chair.
