The Barriere Lions Club held a highly successful Pancake Breakfast event over the

three days of the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo this past Labour Day weekend.

A record number of breakfasts were sold each day which resulted in all time high

revenue of just over $10,000, all of which is being donated to the North Shuswap

Wildfire Relief effort. “The tremendous support of the Barriere community, as well as all

the visiting patrons at the fair, made this event a huge success” quoted Barriere Lions

Club President Dennis Farquharson. “The time and effort put into the preparation and

delivery of our 900 plus breakfasts, demonstrates the dedication and resilience of our

local Lions members, to both our community, and to this wildfire relief project. I thank

them one and all.”

While the club will take a short breather to wind down and rest up from the weekends

efforts, planning for the annual December Santa’s Breakfast will begin shortly. Another

wonderful project that the Barriere Lions do for the community of Barriere each year.

The Barriere Lions Club is having fun and working hard to better the local community

and beyond. They hold and assist at local events, build and maintain local

infrastructure, and support local citizens in need. The club is always on the lookout for

good citizens who would like to help better their community and be part of an active

and fun group of volunteers. You can follow them on Facebook (
