Barriere Secondary School created a Wall of Distinction in 2010, to recognize past Barriere students that have made a significant contribution or achieved outstanding status in their chosen fields of endeavour.

Those students that attended Barriere schools for five years, or graduated from Barriere and have achieved recognition internationally, nationally, provincially, or educationally, will be considered for induction to the Wall of Distinction.

The areas for recognition are academics, athletics, arts, humanitarian activities, or in government, industry, or labour.

In 2010, three outstanding individuals, Dr. Nathan Matthew, Dr. Kee Jim, and Mr. Don Haggard were inducted.

The Wall of Distinction committee is asking the public to nominate individuals that they consider worthy of recognition to the Wall of Distinction for 2011.  Please contact Barriere Secondary for nomination forms, by phoning 250-672-9943, by emailing jbrady@sd73.bc.ca, or by stopping by the school.

Chairman Barry Brady says the Committee thanks and appreciates the community’s interest and contribution, and they invite the public to visit Barriere Secondary to see the Wall of Distinction.

Nominations selected will be inducted at the 2011 Barriere Secondary graduation ceremonies in May.
