Barriere residents will be happy to know that pedestrians, and those using mobility devices, who will be crossing Barriere Town Road between the Barriere Centre Mall and the Fadear Park/Barriere Library that a new safety feature has been installed.
District of Barriere Public Works Manager Chris Matthews advises “the crosswalk on Barriere Town Road at the AG plaza/Fadear Park entrance has now been retrofitted with flashing LED lights. The crosswalk is operated entirely on solar power and works day and night by the push of a button,” said Matthews, “The upgrade is intended to increase visibility and improve driver yield rates by utilizing high-intensity flashing LED light bars.”
Drivers are reminded to be aware of all crosswalk areas within the community, as well as the possibility of icy road and crosswalk surfaces during the winter months.
