Barriere Secondary is once again a recipient of the annual Safe Grad Committees grant from the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, this year receiving a total grant of $1,026.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) supports Safe Grad Committees throughout the province that offer their students an opportunity to celebrate their success in a safe manner, absent of alcohol.

In March of each year, each LDB promotes this program to raise funds that will be shared with the local parent Safe Grad Committee.

This year liquor distribution sites in the Kamloops-Thompson area raised $9561.32 to donate to SD 73 Schools.

Thanks to the Barriere Liquor Store for raising $1026 for Barriere Secondary’s 2021 Grad celebrations.

Graduation celebrations in the community start on June 19 with a Grad Vehicle Parade taking place through the community from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., starting in front of the Senior’s Centre and then heading along Barriere Town Road with a few side routes. Later that evening there will be a drive-in theatre event for the 32 grads and their parents, and on Sunday a whitewater river rafting trip for the grads.
