A windfall in bottles and cans were collected by the Barriere Secondary graduating class of 2022 on Saturday, Oct. 16, thanks to the outstanding generosity and support of the community and surrounding area.

Students, parents and family sent a huge shout out and thank you to all who contributed to the over $4000 that was raised through the bottle drive and is now earmarked to help with next year’s graduation celebrations.

“We picked up so many truck loads of heaps and heaps of bags, that around noon we had to stop picking up and finish sorting millions of bottles and cans at the bottle depot,” said Wanda Nystoruk, “We will be having to pick up what we didn’t get last saturday on another day.”

Nystoruk says the bottle drive will be ongoing, and that people can continue to drop off their donations of cans and bottles at the Barriere Bottle Depot, but please make sure to let the depot know it is for the grad class account.

“There is much appreciation being sent out by all of grad class to all who donated, and also to the parents, grandparents, uncles family and friends who helped out with the bottle drive today,” said Nystoruk, “Especially to all the folks out there who support our high school kids.”
