Business encouraged to dress up for Fall Fair and win $300

North Thompson fall fair 2011

Decorating your business for the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo is a great way to welcome citizens and visitors to Barriere.  The theme this year is “Down on the Farm”.  This is a general enough theme that it should be easy to decorate.

Think about the song Old MacDonald Had a Farm, or the TV show Green Acres, or the book Animal Farm. Of course, you could always have a lot of fun with the song Home on the Range, (or maybe Funny Farm?) – the choices are virtually endless; it will be interesting to see what each business comes up with.

While the contest for the Best Decorated Business is for businesses, there’s nothing to say that you can’t dress up your home or yard for the Fair, (just no prizes), especially if you live along Barriere Town Road where most of the traffic to and from the Fair will travel.

If your business is planning to participate in the contest, please register by Aug. 26 by faxing or dropping off your entry form to the Fall Fair Office.  Decorations should be up by Tuesday, Aug. 30, and are to remain up until the end of the Fair.  Judging will take place on Tuesday through Friday, and the winner will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Businesses will be judged on theme, originality, and visibility (inside and/or outside decorations).  Costumes will be judged as part of the decorations and will not have separate prizes this year.  First prize is $300; second prize is $100.

Every business that enters this contest will have their name entered into a draw, with the winner receiving free one day Fair passes for all their employees.
