Business/Business Person of the Year will win on number of votes received

The Star/Journal office has recently received a number of calls from Barriere residents and businesses asking about how the Business/Business Person of the Year nominations and voting is judged.

The Star/Journal office has recently received a number of calls from Barriere residents and businesses asking about how the Business/Business Person of the Year nominations and voting is judged.

Does a business get nominated and then all the nominations are discussed and voted on by the sponsoring organization, the Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce; or does each nomination count as a vote, and the business with the most nominations wins?

The official word from the Chamber of Commerce is that it is the number of nominations that a business or business person gets that decides who the winner is.  Therefore: if one business gets five nominations, and another business gets 25, the one with 25 nominations would be named the winner.

So get your pens out and fill out a nomination form for your favourite local merchant - every entry increases that person or businesses chances of being named Business/Business Person of the Year.

A nomination form can be found on page 10 of this issue, or you can pick one up at the Chamber office.

The winner will be announced during the Feb. 19, Chamber of Commerce Silent Auction.
