The community of Barriere held their Canada Day July 1st ceremonies at the Bandshell in Fadear Park last Sunday.

The rainy weather had the park almost empty just before the 2 p.m. kick off, but as the time drew near many community members brought their friends and family over to wish Canada a happy birthday.

The event certainly “lucked out”, with a 30 minute window between rain showers opening up in time for the officials and dignitaries to take to the stage.

Youngsters were invited to join the dignitaries on stage to sing O’Canada, then speeches, and birthday wishes for our great country.

Next up was a table full of yummy cupcakes, and then live music on stage, and even a little dancing before the next downpour arrived.
