Buis is a member of the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association and this is the second time she has stepped up to volunteer when the NTFFRA has been caring for evacuated livestock. During the 2017 wildfires and resultant livestock evacuations, Buis was a full-time volunteer who assisted in overseeing the arrival/departure and well-being of some 700 animals that utilized the fairground facility over a period of 70 days.
