The Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce is preparing for their seventh annual Silent Auction and second annual Business of the Year 2010 Awards on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the fall fair hall.
“We hope to make everyone aware of the wonderful people and businesses that are part of Barriere and the surrounding area,” stated Chamber president Bill Kershaw. “We invite everyone to come out, meet our members and local entrepreneurs, and enjoy an evening of friendly competition bidding on the many silent auction items.”
This annual event is open to the community at large and is free. There will be wine and cheese, and fruit platters to snack on. While there will be tables and chairs set up for those who want to sit and visit with friends, attendees are encouraged to keep an eye on the items they are bidding on that will be displayed on tables throughout the hall.
The Chamber says RVSP’s will be appreciated, as this will both help with the head count, and will ensure the snacks don’t run out. RVSPs will be accepted until Feb. 17.
“We would appreciate the support of local businesses in contributing an item to our auction,” Kersaw said, “Or just simply come and participate in an evening of fun.”
Donating an item for the auction by Feb. 4, will ensure inclusion in the evening’s printed program.
The second annual Business of The Year Award will be presented during the evening and a nomination form is on this page or pick one up at the Chamber office. Any business/business person may be nominated, whether they are a member of the Chamber of Commerce or not. Any organization, business or individual may not however nominate themselves.
