Chamber looking for Business of the Year

The Award will be presented at the Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce’s (BCOC) Annual Silent Auction

It’s the time of year to think about which Barriere businesses should be nominated for the Business of the Year Award.

The Award will be presented at the Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce’s (BCOC) Annual Silent Auction and 3rd Business of the Year Annual Awards Celebration held February 18 at the Fall Fair Hall.

All individuals are encouraged to nominate a business or business person for this award.  You do not have to be a member of the BCOC to submit a nomination, nor to be nominated.  However, you cannot nominate yourself.

This year’s judging will be based on the reasons and quality for nomination, not the quantity of nominations as was done in past years.

This year you can only submit one nomination per person or business, additional nominations from the same person or business will not be accepted.

If you are planning on submitting a nomination, be sure to include details on why you feel the business or person deserves the award.  The deadline for submissions is February 6, 2012.  The names of all nominated businesses or business persons will be reviewed by a panel who will then make their decision on who will be the winners.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the BCOC office.

The Annual Silent Auction is a big part of the celebration and is the main annual fundraiser for the BCOC.

The event is open free of charge to members of the community with RVSP’s appreciated.  There will be refreshments served and numerous items to place your bid on in the Silent Auction.

There will be some tables and chairs set up, but attendees are encouraged to mingle and socialize while keeping an eye on the bidding pertinent to the item you may wish to take home.

RVSP’s will be appreciated, as this will help with the head count and will ensure that the snacks don’t run out.  Contact Marie Downing, BCOC Administrator, at 250-672-9221.
