Chocolate and comedy night fundraiser for Agriplex

Fundraising for the North Thompson Agriplex in Barriere

You can't help but have a great time when you have the opportunity to enjoy chocolate and comedy with your friends.

For all the chocolate lovers out there this evening’s for you!  If you like everything chocolate; eat it, drink it, and love to cook with it, you won’t want to miss ‘An Evening of Chocolate and Comedy’ at the Fall Fair Hall on May 14, at 7 p.m.

“This is an adult only evening,” says organizer Jill Hayward, “But it is definitely not an X rated show.  This will be clean comedy and magic by well known comedy magician Clinton W. Gray.  Clinton performs at our fall fair each year, wows the kids and keeps everyone smiling.  However, Clinton can also wow the adults with his great comedy and magic mixture – a performance that keeps folks talking long after the event.”

Hayward says holding the event for adults only is all just part of putting on a “classy evening” of fun and socializing.

“We want to give adults a chance to have an enjoyable dress-up evening in the comfort of their own community,” said Hayward, “The evening will be a great opportunity to take out that someone special; especially mom, or that lady in your life.  You’ll experience a great entertainer, while at the same time sampling absolutely yummy chocolate creations."

She also says, "Attendees will be able to browse the chocolate tables sampling as they go.  And for those who must abstain from the chocolate there will be plates of fresh fruit, cheeses, and crackers; not to mention a no-host bar courtesy of the Barriere Lions Club.’.

Tickets are starting to sell quickly so folks are encouraged to pick theirs up now to avoid disappointment at the door.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors.  They will be available at the Star/Journal office, Barriere Country Feeds, the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre, and the District of Barriere.

"This is a great gift for mom or that special lady in your life as a Mother's Day present," says Hayward, "She can enjoy Mother's Day with family and the kids, and then the next weekend it will be her night out at An Evening of Chocolate and Comedy; what could be better!"

The event is hosted by the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association, and any profit made will go towards the North Thompson Agriplex project.  The North Thompson Agriplex is currently under construction; it will be a 30,000 square foot facility with 20,000 sq ft being clear span.  The Agriplex will host the North Thompson Fall Fair, the 2011 Provincial Winter Fair, and other agricultural events.  It will also be a multi-use facility available for auctions, equipment and vehicle shows, workshops, and more.  Anyone who would like more information about the North Thompson Agriplex,  or 'An Evening of Chocolate and Comedy' can contact Jill Hayward at 250-319-8023, or Donna Kibble at 250-672-5672.
