The annual Gilbert Smith Forest Products Ltd Christmas party will be looking somewhat different to mill employees this year says GSFP Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator, Darcey Woods, CRSP.

“This year we unfortunately had to cancel our Christmas party,” says Woods, “But we are working hard to bring Christmas cheer to the plant. We’re holding a Door Decorating Contest – employee’s pick a door anywhere in the plant and decorate it. Also a Christmas Ornament Crafting Contest (wooden tree cut outs, both kids and adults can take part) and we have some great submissions with the whole family participating on their project.”

Woods says the mill is also holding their annual draws which include 4H beef (purchased from Yellowhead 4H’r Jonathan Fennell, as well as cash prizes.

“This year we are also paying it forward and holding a Meat Draw for our employees with all funds raised going to the Barriere Food Bank,” tells Woods, “This all wraps up on Friday, Dec. 18, when our contest winners will be named. We’ll do the draws and give out the gifts with Christmas treats, coffee and cocoa for everyone at breaks.”

Woods says there are “some fantastic gifts” as well waiting for GSFP employees, “from Stormtech (via the LN Group) and Stanfield’s…“
