Community news from McLure and Louis Creek

The Eco-depot in Louis Creek wants to take the winter collection of non-useful items off your hands – for free

By Lorna Bergey

When asked to write about the news from McLure and Louis Creek, my first thought was, “what news?” But I was wrong . . .

So here goes.

On April 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Eco-depot in Louis Creek wants to take the winter collection of non-useful items off your hands –  for free.

That’s right, a free day at the dump!

The store at the Pinegrove Campground and RV Park opens May 1st. Want to go fishing? Get your license, groceries and other necessaries there. Shop locally.

There is a community meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in the McLure Fire Hall.

Argo Road Maintenance doesn’t have any major roadwork planed in our area (that they can recall off the top of their heads). So should be clear sailing for a couple  of weeks.

Now, closer to home.

If you half-close your eyes while looking at the shoots of new grass, fluorescent green leaves and robin egg blue skies, you can almost forget the winter grays. Almost.

But, oh no! It’s yard cleaning time. Can’t stand here all day staring at grass and leaves!

For now, that’s the news from McLure and Louis Creek – until garden planting time.
