Barrere, the countdown is on! Soon we‘ll be opening our community to the many guests who will come to enjoy the 73rd Annual North Thompson Fall Fair and – we are almost ready! You can feel the excitement in the air as summer is winding down and the fall is awakening.

The gardens are producing their bounty just in time to be shown off in the exhibit hall, and perhaps earning a big blue ribbon. Livestock are being groomed up as owners get them ready to shine. Dance tickets are printed, t-shirts are being ordered, and the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Ambassador candidates are preparing their speeches in readiness for their Coronation event at the Fall Fair Hall on Thursday, Sept. 1, as the kick off to the fair.

There have been numerous volunteers busy painting, repairing, cleaning, mowing lawns and trimming the weeds and it shows throughout the fairgrounds. This week they will continue their efforts decorating and setting up displays throughout the facility. The rodeo arena is being well prepped and spruced up for all the cowboys and cowgirls who will be competing in the BCRA Polaris Championship Finals Rodeo.

Volunteers as still being sought to work the gates, plus help in general throughout the fairgrounds.

Contact Beverly Murphy at 250-819-5684 for more information, or simply stop by the fairgrounds and find one of the many volunteers to help get you started.

Next week decorating the downtown area will be getting underway, with all businesses and organizations being encouraged to join in the transformation. Let’s be at our best as we greet families, friends, and neighbours from near and far to our great community. We’re back in the saddle!
