Don’t forget to plant your wheelbarrows

Valley gardeners are starting to ready their flower and vegetable beds for planting as the frost goes and the weather starts to warm. Now is the time when plans for planting take shape, and those with a green thumb can’t wait to get digging in the dirt.

Valley gardeners are starting to ready their flower and vegetable beds for planting as the frost goes and the weather starts to warm. Now is the time when plans for planting take shape, and those with a green thumb can’t wait to get digging in the dirt.

While you are moving that dirt around, don’t forget to plant your wheelbarrow.

That’s right, plant your wheelbarrow so you can enter it into the Miss Kitty Wheelbarrow Contest at this year’s North Thompson Fall Fair on the Labour Day weekend in September.

The Miss Kitty Wheelbarrow Contest requires the planting of a wheelbarrow with flowers, or vegetables, or berries; but they must be planted in the wheelbarrow. You can also decorate the wheelbarrow with your choice of themes.

The best decorated wheelbarrow (judge’s choice) will win a brand new wheelbarrow donated by Bees Blossoms & Garden Art, in memory of Kitty Hurdle.

Watch for the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo entry catalogue coming out next month.
