Drunk driver passes cop on blind corner

The Barriere RCMP say they would like to remind everyone of the dangers associated with impaired driving

The Barriere RCMP say they would like to remind everyone of the dangers associated with impaired driving, and remind those who continue to drive while under the influence, of the penalties.

On Feb. 7, a member of the Barriere RCMP was travelling Northbound in a marked police vehicle going the speed limit. The truck travelling behind the police officer was travelling far too close, and eventually pulled out and passed the officer when going into a blind corner.

Upon speaking to the driver, it was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. Breath samples were obtained, and indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.

The driver now faces a lengthy vehicle impoundment, loss of his drivers licence, driver re-training, and other sanctions under the motor vehicle act.

These penalties are minor compared to the potential loss of life that was caused by his poor decisions that evening.
