Calling all Barriere businesses, are you ready to enter the North Thompson Fall Fair Best Decorated Business Contest?
This annual business decorating contest has been postponed over the past two years due to the cancellation of the annual Fall Fair during the pandemic. However, the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo is back this year, taking place Sept. 3 - 5, and all Barriere businesses are encouraged to join the celebration.
“Decorating Barriere businesses provides a grand welcome for all those who will be visiting the community as the arrive to attend the 73rd annual North Thompson Fall Fair and BCRA POLARIS Championship Finals Rodeo,” says a press release from the NTFFRA, “Our theme for the Fair this year is ‘Back In The Saddle’.”
Decorations must be up by noon, on Monday, Aug. 29, and remain up through to Monday evening, Sept. 5, (at close of each individual participating store).
Judging will take place between Monday, Aug. 29, and Thursday, Sept. 1, with prizes being awarded on Friday, Sept. 2.
Businesses will be judged on: theme (Back In The Saddle), originality, and visibility (inside and/or outside decorations). Employees wearing costumes will be judged as part of the decoration, but separate prizes for costumes will not be awarded.
Entry forms must be received by Friday, Aug. 26, so judges can schedule the businesses they will be attending. Entry forms can be dropped off at the Star/Journal office on Conner Road, or call Margaret Houben at 250-672-9330.
Best Decorated Business Prizes include:
First place - $100 gift certificate to Sam’s Pizza, two VIP seats in the Rodeo Arena Crows-nest for all three days of the BCRA POLARIS Championship Finals Rodeo, and 10 one day passes to the 73rd Annual Fall Fair and BCRA POLARIS Championship Finals Rodeo: Total Value $420.
Second place - $50 gift certificate to Sam’s Pizza, two tickets to the North Thompson Fall Fair Cabaret Dance on Sept. 3, and five one day passes to the 73rd Annual Fall Fair and BCRA POLARIS Championship Finals Rodeo: Total Value $160.
Third place – Four tickets to the Sunday Night Cowboy Concert and four one-day passes to the 73rd Annual Fall Fair and BCRA POLARIS Championship Finals Rodeo: Total value $88.
