Family Day parade was buzzy bee extravaganza on labour day in Barriere

Participants of the North Thompson Fall Fair Rodeo Association (NNTFRA) Family Day parade went above and beyond this year to make it an event Barriere can be proud of. The Honey Bee theme of the fair was reflected in the sights and sounds throughout the event.

Participants of the North Thompson Fall Fair Rodeo Association (NNTFRA) Family Day parade went above and beyond this year to make it an event Barriere can be proud of. The Honey Bee theme of the fair was reflected in the sights and sounds throughout the event.

The 4-F club had their sheep dressed as bees and even came with honey comb. Bee keeper Zachery Thalheimer delighted the crowd with the sounds of a busy bee colony coming from the rear of his bee-mobile. Little Izzy Jensen was a bee-butterfly. She came all the way from Kamloops with her mom and her super hero brother Tavo. Not to be outdone was the five Bee-Murphy family. Rounding off the bee theme participants was little Shylo Ryde, always a crowd pleaser, who had her adorable steed in bee coloured balloons. These themed exhibits were Bee-beautiful.

The parade wove its way to the fair grounds led by the NTFFRA Ambassadors Jesimae Harrison and Makayla Akey. Zoe Jensen appeared as Cinderella in her effervescent coloured coach. Lynnette and Arrow Proulx celebrated Halloween early and took first prize in their category!

Maddy Nickel won for his clown costume. The Nickel family received a ribbon for their ‘Fun Theme’. Gwendolyn and Maddy Forster each received a blue ribbon for their Penguin Princess outfits. Super hero Billy Marciniw took home a red ribbon for his Boba Frett character and his mom Kelly did the same with her Cara Dune.

Barriere’s own Pricilla Faye Krause’s delightful team of minis came prancing along with her in their charming and well-decorated cart.

Special thank you to Ashley Wohlgemuth and the Barriere Fire Department for securing the parade route and keeping everyone safe. Search and Rescue for your surprise participation. Shout out to Chris Clown who is always a delight to have in the line up. The Thompson Valley Players donated five $25.00 cash prizes for the Special Ribbon category and were awarded to the 4-F club, Zoe Jensen, Zachery Thalheimer, Shylo Ryde and the Nickle family.

What a wonderful event. Thank you to all who took the time to dress up, decorate and show up!! We will see you all next year.
