The Barriere Secondary Graduation Class of 2017 hosted Corsets to Cargos – 100 Years of Fashion in the school gymnasium  Apr. 20.

MCs Serena Steel and Kathleen Pilatzke introduced fashion statements of the 1900s through the 1990s with plenty of great entertainment provided by the performing students.

Fashion skits included scenes and music from The Titanic, The Roaring Twenties, The Yellow Brick Road, World War II, the King of Rock and Roll, Ring of Fire, Saturday Night Fever, Grease Lightning, Let’s Get Physical, The Spice Girls, and Barbie Girl.

The class had the audience laughing and clapping along with the fast paced and upbeat performance, which was more than worthy of a hearty “well done” from all who attended.

Thanks to all of the sponsors and supporters who donated items to the silent auction which was used as a fundraiser for the upcoming grad celebrations.   The silent auction had folks making many competitive bids during the intermission.

The formal wear segment of the evening was well received by all, after which camera buffs had an opportunity to happily click photos of the class of 2017.

Grads performing included: Dustin Pawloff, Leanna Mitchell, Nicholas McInnes, Lyric McLeish, Alan Shearsmith, Kathleen Pilatzke, Ivana Villeneuve, Tristan Holt, Ally Dunn, Jordan Bauer, Dylan Huitema-Harrie, Lee Dionne, Megan English, Tristan Brackman, Felicia Huffman, Owen Hawkings, Katie Holland, Richard Celesta, Tamika Philip-Bell, Serena Steel, Matthew Lee and Jilesa Ralko.
