It’s garden planting time in McLure and Louis Creek. It looks like Vinsulla’s planting went in a couple of weeks ago.
If we get through the May long weekend without frost (or snow), it should be blue skies until harvest.
Now, here’s the really exciting news: The McLure Firefighters and Recreation Association are having their Annual Fundraising Dinner at the McLure Fire Hall on Saturday, June 4, from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
You can enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner, or mac and cheese if you’re a vegetarian. There will even be gluten free available, and of course assorted desserts.
There will be a throw blanket and gift certificates up for grabs, but you’ll have to be there to find out what you can win (or bid on). Admission is by donation. These great guy’s need all the support they can get – and someday they might have to save us.
Not so exciting news is the fact that they will be working on our road again, and again, and again, and again; starting in June.
I’m sure we will all appreciate the new passing lane and pullout by next winter, but sitting in those long line-ups and having to leave an hour earlier for everything is such a pain.
Don’t forget about our community meeting on the first Wednesday of June at 7:30 p.m. in the McLure Fire Hall.
No more campfires. The open fire ban went into effect at noon on May 15.
You will hear from me again, around fun in the sun time, with more news from McLure, Louis Creek and Vinsulla.
