At the January meeting, of the North Thompson Valley Garden Club the election of officers was held; committee chairs were also named for the coming year.
Officers for 2011 are:
President - Dean Goddard, vice-president - Franz Friesinger, secretary - Liz Gilbertson, and treasurer - Anne Cameron.
Committee Chairs are;
Program Committee and Garden Tour co-chairs Susan Garland and Margaret Houben, Harvest Festival co-chairs Gerry Brackhaus and Franz Friesinger, Plant Sale - Anne Cameron, Seedy Saturday - Dean Goddard, and Fall Fair Parade Float - Anne Cameron.
The chair for the Community Garden will be named at the next meeting.
This year, each committee will have their own meetings and only do a report at the general meetings. This should make the general meetings shorter, allowing for more time for presentations, hands on workshops and socializing.
For the February meeting there will be a seed exchange and a presentation, however the presenter is not yet confirmed.
Everyone is encouraged to mark their calendars for the following events: The Annual Plant Sale will be on May 7; and the Annual Harvest Festival will be on September 11.
The next meeting of the Garden Club is on Feb. 20, 1 p.m., at the North Thompson Volunteer Centre in the Ridge.
