Get a little Zumba at the fair

zumba, fall fair 2011

How about a little Zumba at this years fair?

Gloria the Zumba Girl is coming to Barriere to give a demonstration at the Sept. 3 - 5, North Thompson Fall Fair & Rodeo.

Zumba is an energetic fitness craze that makes exercise seem easy with the catchy music and freedom of dance!

Zumba combines a fitness-dance party with a contagious blend of Latin and international rhythms that provides a fun and effective workout, either at home or in the gym. Through exhilarating, high calorie-burning fitness classes, Zumba has helped melt the pounds and inches off more than 12 million Zumba-enthusiasts in over 125 countries.

Using easy-to-follow moves and exotic, high-energy music, Zumba routines successfully tone and sculpt the body while burning fat. You don’t have to know what your doing, you just have have to fun!

Gloria is a certified instructor from Calgary says she is always excited to spread the word and teach others how great Zumba makes you feel.

She is encouraging all age groups, male or female, to give it a try and see just how easy it is to Zumba!

You’ll find Gloria ‘Zumba-ing’ each day on the outdoor stage at the Fall Fair this year.  Check it out, join in, tell your friends!

Fair Children’s Parade to become Family Parade this year

Have you got your costumes started for the family parade?  The Thompson Valley Players are attempting to bring some new life to the Fall Fair Children’s Parade on Monday, Sept. 5.  This parade has been declining in numbers over the last few years; so this year organizers are encouraging kids of all ages to bring their friends, parents, and grandparents to walk the short route with them.

The Parade will gather at 9:30 a.m., at the Barriere Secondary School, judging at 10 a.m., and then at 10:30 a.m. the parade will travel up Barriere Lakes Road, turn into the Fair grounds and end at the Fall Fair outdoor stage for prize awards.

This year there will be some cash prizes and special prize ribbons that will be presented on the stage, so entrants must be sure they stick around at the end of the parade!

There will also be a category for Seniors on their scooters to dress up and join in the fun. We encourage the children to dress up your pets and bring them too, horses, dogs, ducks, whatever, as long as they are tame and love a good parade!

The Family parade is on Monday Sept. 5, and will start to assemble around 9:30 a.m., judging is at 10 o’clock sharp and the parade will begin at 10:30.

There is only a few weeks left until the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo so get to work and we will see you at the Family Parade!
