Hannigan takes chair of Lower North Thompson Tourism Society

The Lower North Thompson Tourism Society (LNTTS) held their annual general meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Ridge in Barriere with over a dozen stakeholders attending.

Marketing Coordinator for the LNTTS, Lorne Richardson, presented his review of 2015 initiatives completed and the go forward marketing initiatives for 2016. Financials from 2015 were reviewed and the 2016 budget was approved.

Elections were then conducted with vice-chair Colleen Hannigan being elected to the position of chair as the previous chair, Tracey O’Connell, had resigned due to moving out of the country. Raj Mahal was then elected as a director to replace Runny Maan who was also stepping down.

Serving with Hannigan for the upcoming term are: treasurer Lana Laskovic, secretary Connie Falk; representing accommodation stakeholders - Raj Mahal (Knights Inn,  Barriere), Peter Blanke (Monte Carlo Motel, Barriere), Michelle Cooper (South Thompson Inn), Barb Lewko (Johnson Lakes Resort); representing Simpcw First Nation - Tina Donald and Tom Eustache; other directors - John Douglas (Sun Peaks Tourism), Jill Hayward (North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association), Shirley Culver (Community Futures).

The LNTTS promotes marketing of the area through website, social media, consumer shows and other initiatives.
