Last ladies night golf at Chinook Cove Resort coming up

By Leslie Stirling

Wow…hard to believe that we are already at our last golf night for August. Just two more Ladies’ nights before we end our 2023 season. On the whole the weather has been cooperating although we did get wet a few nights. Tuesday was not one of those nights. We had lovely late summer/early fall weather and enjoyed our round thoroughly. I had one of my best scores of the season and wondered if it might be the calming influence of Donna Janning riding in the passenger seat.

Karen Peterson had a great round with a score of 41 to win Low Gross in Flight 1. Donna Salle scored 48 (35.5) to win Low Net. The sponsor was Sundown Construction. In Flight 2 Trudy Forsythe came in with a score of 45 to win Low Gross and Doreen Landry scored 52 (34.5) to win Low Net. Both prizes were sponsored by Steve Passmore or Sun Life Financial. Joan Streadwick scored a 52 to win Low Gross in Flight 3 and I (Leslie Stirling) was close on her heels with a 53 (33) to win Low Net. Thanks to Kelly McNabney of TriPeaks Physio for sponsoring Flight 3.

There were plenty of pot winners. Donna Salle won the Deuce pot for Flight 1 while Deanna Pendergast won the Birdie Pot in the same flight. There were three Chip-Ins. Marian Wallace won the Flight 1 pot. Evelyn Lucas won the Flight 3 pot. Rose Seymour won the Flight 4 pot.

Prizes were divided fairly evenly between long drives and long putts. Those making long drives were Marian Wallace (Barriere Motor Inn), Betty Foote (Barriere Timber Mart), Terri Jones (Just U), Doreen Landry (Rainer Custom Cutting), Joan Streadwick (Sam’s Pizza), and Karina Scott (Station House Restaurant). KPs which are sort of long drives with a definite destination were made by Donna Salle (Cindy Leibel Real Estate), Fiona Clare (MJB Lawyer), Anita Hill (Salle Ranch), Wanda Amos (Stamer Logging), Marie Giesbrecht (Barb and Carman Smith), and Doreen Landry (Brian and Brenda Carl). KPs in 2 prize winners were Theresa Robinson (EBL Ventures), Donna Salle (Thompson Valley Awards) and Linda Ransome (AG Foods). Log Putts earned prizes for Rose Seymour (The Local Artisan Market), Babes Shanko (Armour Mountain Bookkeeping), Cathy McNeil (Barriere IDA), Karen Peterson (Blue Moon Galeria) and Leslie Stirling (HUB/Chad Belbin). Karen Peterson won the Least Putt prize from our anonymous sponsor having used only 13 putts. We made a slight error in announcing Most Putts. We had announced that Cathy McNeil had 26 and then discovered that Darlene Nickull had 29. We presented prizes to both. After all, when you announce out loud how many putts a person used you really must give them something. Cathy is a good sport.

The Club Championship is going to be held on Saturday, September 16th. You must be a member to take part but it is not necessary to have an official handicap. Please book with the clubhouse quickly. Our last Ladies Night will be September 12th. We usually get a pretty good turnout so you had best book your tee time soon. See you at the course.
