Last Friday evening 28-year-old Brandon Evans was seriously injured in a single motor vehicle accident along Agate Bay Road when his vehicle left the pavement and rolled multiple time out into a field.

Evans was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance and later moved to Vancouver where he remains in intensive care.

Evan’s grandmother, Debbie Kennedy, said on Monday that her grandson had already had “a couple of surgeries” and that he is “heavily sedated”.

“He has had a few rough times since the accident but we are hoping to be able to get him off the oxygen and breathing on his own soon,” commented Kennedy.

Evans and his partner Sara have a young son, four-month-old Luke, who is also undergoing medical care in Vancouver on a fairly regular basis.

Baby Luke needs a heart valve replaced with an artificial one, which will then have to be repeated as he grows.  Right now Luke must visit Vancouver every three months due to his condition.

“The trips to Vancouver are very costly,”said Kennedy, “Motels and other costs mount up quickly.”

Now this young family is in need of some help, and as a result, grandfather Shan Kennedy has turned to crowd funding at gofundme.com.

He writes on the gofundme page:

“I’m Brandon Evans grandpa, and of course Luke’s great grandpa. Unfortunately, Brandon was in a very serious accident Nov. 25. He is now in Vancouver hospital in intensive care. Brandon’s son spends a good deal of time in children’s hospital with his own special needs. When times are tough true friends come through and this young family could use some friends right now. Any and all help will be extremely appreciated. Help spread the word!”

As of press time on Tuesday the page had only been up two days but was already hitting $7,725 of the posted $10,000 goal.
