We honour Indigenous Veterans Day on Nov. 8 by lowering the flag to half mast at mid-day. This gesture of respect is observed in Canada on Nov. 8, in recognition of Indigenous contributions to military service, particularly in the First World War, Second World War and the Korean War. More than 7,000 Indigenous people served in the wars. More than 500 lost their lives. flag is not raised fully until the Tuesday following Remembrance Day.
